Rentals in Highland Park, Los Angeles Living in Highland Park.
Hilly streets, deco apartment courts, the reservoir loop at sunset, and a coffee shop on every corner. The Eastside's most-walkable neighborhood — and one of the first places we managed homes.
Why people stay in Highland Park.
The neighborhood was platted in the 1920s around the reservoir, and most of the housing stock dates to that boom — Spanish revival fourplexes, English cottage bungalows, and the occasional R.M. Schindler. A second wave in the late '40s brought modernist post-and-beam homes onto the hills above Silver Lake Boulevard.
Day-to-day, you walk to Sunset Junction, the Saturday farmers' market on Sunset & Griffith Park, the dog park, the steps, and a dozen restaurants serving everything from Oaxacan tlayudas to wood-fired Roman pinsa. Commute to DTLA is fifteen minutes off-peak via the 101 or twenty on the Metro B Line from Vermont/Sunset.
Schools: LAUSD's Ivanhoe Elementary is the magnet most families chase. Public transit is fair — the DASH and Metro 2 cover Sunset, but a car still helps. Street parking is permit-zoned in most pockets, and we'll walk you through the zone for any home you tour.
